Eagle Cheerleaders are part of "The Seattle Interbay Youth Football Club". Girls must be between the ages of 7 & 14 to register. Cheerleading is an empowering sport for young girls. Strong bonds are built, while the girls learn individual and team skills in a fun supportive environment. Last season, the cheer squad learned 35 sideline cheers, and 9 dance routines that were performed at halftime and between quarters.
New this season!!! Eagle Cheerleaders who are on the 2013 squad will have the "option" to try-out for a new Eagle Cheer Competition Team. The Competition Team will compete in WSCCA sponsored events against other WA State recreation cheer & dance squads. Competition season starts in November and ends with the State Championships in early February. The Eagle competition team will compete in 2-3 invitationals during the season. There will be small fees associated with the competition team that are not included in your Eagles Cheer registration fee. Details will be explained prior to try-outs. Competitions will range in location from Everett to Tacoma. Try-outs will be held during the summer of 2013. Additional practices, with mandatory attendance, will be set for girls who make the Competition Team. More information to follow for those interested. Please note that only a small group from the 2013 Eagle Cheer Squad will make it onto the competition team; tryouts are optional.
Our mandatory parent/cheerleader meeting will be held Thursday May 30th from 7:15pm - 8:30pm. The practice schedule will be set and uniforms will be fitted and ordered at this meeting. We will hold initial practices/camps in 3 groups based on age and/or ability. The camps will begin during the month of July. We will practice throughout the summer and try our best to accommodate the girls other various camps and vacation schedules. Once school begins we will practice just once per week at most. 95% of the cheers, dance routines and stunts will be taught during the summer camps where attendance in mandatory. ***Additional practices will be held November 2013 - January 2014 for the competition squad only.
The cheerleaders first appearance as a squad will be at the NJFL Jamboree scheduled for August 24th 2013 at the Shoreline Football Stadium.
Cheerleaders will support and cheer for the 5 Eagles football teams beginning Saturday September 7th. There will be 6 league games which are held every Saturday throughout the months of September and October. Play-off games and championships follow season games. The rec squad season will wrap up at the beginning of November with the entire squad participating in a cheer exhibition along with all the other cheers squads from the league.
